Rates for Longarming
Price per square inch
I charge 2.5 cents per square inch for all designs.
Example: A quilt top is 60 inches x 80 inches. 60 x 80 = 4800 x .025 = $120 + Batting
Minimum charge
My minimum quilting charge is $60. This means that a small quilt or table runner’s square inch price will be rounded up to the $60 minimum.
Deposit
I do not require a deposit.
Batting
Batting is a separate charge and is NOT included in the square inch price. I use and stock the most popular Quilters Dream batting and charge per linear inch. I will gladly order other fiber varieties of Quilters Dream batting like Wool, Dream Orient, or the Green option (made with recycled plastic) for you if given enough lead time. The batting I keep on hand:
- Quilters Dream Wool ($0.46 per linear inch)
- Quilters Dream 100% cotton SELECT loft (white – $0.44 per linear inch)
- Quilters Dream 100% cotton SELECT loft (natural, unbleached – $0.40 per linear inch)
- Quilters Dream 80% cotton/20% poly blend (natural, unbleached – $0.33 per linear inch)
- Quilters Dream 100% poly (white – $0.26 per linear inch)
Example: Using the 60″x80″ quilt from above: The batting is 93″ wide so I would cut 65″ inches to allow the margin needed for quilting. 65″ of 100% poly @ $0.26/in = $16.90.
Thread
I stock Glide threads and charge $1.25 per bobbin. This covers the cost of top thread.
I typically match or blend thread color with the lighter areas of your quilt. But this is YOUR quilt! Let me know if you have a preference on thread color.
Binding
Includes trimming/squaring quilt
- Create binding and machine stitch finish, $.40 per linear inch
- Machine stitch client provided binding front and back, $.25 per linear inch
- Attach client binding for client to finish, $.15 per linear inch
Shipping / Drop Off
You can schedule drop-offs and pick-ups easily on my Calendly or call the shop at 215-740-3755.
Shipping your top/backing/binding to me: I live in Western North Carolina, USA, and would be happy to receive your top and backing by mail. I always recommend sending your materials enclosed in some kind of sack or bag to protect against possible moisture in transit and then placed in a hard-sided cardboard box. Make sure the box is securely taped and labeled clearly.
Return shipping: I will send your quilt back to you in the manner described above via the most economical shipping service with tracking. Most come with $100 of insurance, but please indicate on your intake form if you would like me to purchase additional insurance on your behalf.
Other costs
As mentioned above, batting is not included in the square inch price. I’m required by the State of North Carolina to collect a 7% sales tax on the batting portion of an invoice. Quilting/labor, shipping, and any design/pantograph fees are not subject to sales tax.
Payment
After the work is complete, I will invoice you via email if you are mail in client. Currently I accept personal checks, cash, or credit cards. I really do appreciate timely payments as that enables me to mail your project(s) back to you right away. Walk in clients will receive a call or text as per their preference.
I can help if this is your first quilt or your hundredth quilt.
